I have heard that mental health treatment is highly unregulated. Cruel practices such as reparative therapy and electric shock treatment are practiced on patients without evidence to back up their safety and effectiveness. What guidelines exist for mental health treatment? What is allowed, and what is not?

Well i have Major depression( Clinical ) and have been through alot with mental health issuses including phsycotic symptons and all the with 3 services GP CAMHS and early intervention team who i am all still with. I would like people to share there experiacnes going into detail or not i dont mind i just havnt spoken to anybody in the same boat and it would be quite nice to know im not alone.

Cigna requires a hmo primary dentist but it covers 100% on most care. Is having a dental primary care provider really that big of a deal. I need alot of work.

What happens (UK) when someone seeks help for all of these mental health issues (all the same person, not for each!) -

Depression
Self-harm
Severe Mood Swings
Paranoia
Anorexia
Severe Stress
Panic Attacks
and possibly more problems that have not been noticed yet!

I really need to know because I would like to start this Fall.
