that sounds like a great regimen.

I would add:

*when you brush with a manual toothbrush, use small circular motions at a 45 degree angle

*brush after every meal/snack

*floss at least 1 time/day and wrap the floss in a c-shape around the tooth and floss each side of the tooth. Also go under the gums to remove plaque hidden there. It will reduce the bacteria and the incidence of periodontal disease.

*avoid sodas (acid & sugar), juice (excess sugar and staining) and sugary gums/mints etc.

Ask your hygienist at your next cleaning which areas you had more plaque/tartar buildup so you can focus better on these areas.

Good LucK!

well....at that age, they might be too young to see some horribly graphic pictures of what bad oral hygiene could do to you, but I would suggest that you have some pictures of people who didn't really take care of their teeth, and what the result was. As ridiculous as this sounds, if someone can dress up as a tooth and talk to the class about how it has no arms or anything to clean itself with, and it needs each and every one of them to do their part. Make them feel personally responsible for their teeth.

they can.. even if you are very young and do not want to do sometimes.. BUT remember the boy that wanted to stop treatment when he had cancer,, his parents were ok with him stooping it BUT the hospital called social services and they took them all to court to make him start the treatment again..

he won his case and didn't have to start treatment again..

so it could go both ways..

I primarily follow the mediterranean food pyramid. Lots of whole wheat / whole grain breads, crackers, pastas (although I occasionally indulge in a white baguette), brown rice, flax seeds. Loads of fresh fruit and fresh and frozen veggies. Lots of legumes, beans, and nuts. Olives & olive oil. TONS of garlic!
A lot less dairy than I used to - mostly soy milk, now, and good, handcrafted cheese.
The only meats I eat are fish/shellfish (only those caught in the wild) and chicken, but pretty infrequently, and more fish than poultry.
Sugars - rarely (although I have indulged more than usual over the holidays!)

Whole, unprocessed foods. Good stuff

If you're under 18, your parents are responsible for you in the eyes of the law. If a wrong decision is made, your parents are the ones legally responsible. I don't think there's any easy way for you to assume this legal responsibility. You are still a 'child'.

I think your best bet is just to get your parents to agree to let you make all (or some) of the decisions.

considering that when our nation was founded, there was no such thing as antibiotics, xrays, chemotherapy, antidepressants, MRI, CT, even sterile surgical practices...I'd say we've come a long way in a comparatively short period of time... but, you aren't going to get instant gratification in a field that takes years to prepare for let alone function in. And that, basically is what you are demanding here, instant gratification...tsk tsk tsk
