I’m thinking about careers in the medical field, especially related to lab work, the one being most familiar with a medical technologist. What are some other similar careers and what are some ups/downs of them? What is a career in a medical lab like?

I am currently working on my Bachelor’s degree in Biology and I want to be a medical technologist. The college I am going to doesn’t have a specific Med. Tech track so what are the steps I need to take in order to have the best chances of getting a good job as a Medical Technologist?

Would it be possible for me to work in the US as a med tech with part time med trans given these:

1. I’m from Philippines.
2. Med tech graduate with 1 year internship experience only.
3. Underwent med trans training and currently working as med trans for almost 2 years.
4. With IELTS, ASCP, visa screen

I would really want to work as med tech but is it impossible to get accepted to any hospital without prior work experience?

Are there plenty of jobs for med trans?

Please don’t answer me with definition or copy paste of med trans or even online training courses. I want opinion or from experience

Because…I see commercials about becoming dental assistants all day,everyday but i don’t ever see any about dental hygienist.I also can’t find any 2 yr or community colleges that offer dental hygiene in TN.How can it be a growing career if its so hard to find a school to go to for it?

I’d really hope to be a dental hygienist,but I just don’t know about it anymore.It seems too difficult to get into.
